How
to overcome your Weight Loss Plateau

Those of you
who have been through it probably know how frustrating it is
when you hit a weight loss plateau where the scale just
seems to be stuck at the same number for weeks at a time.
For
first timers, it can be very panicking but don't worry..
it's only a temporary situation. What happens is that our
body gets in a sort of rut and doing same old things just
seems to stop working. Things will settle down gradually and
you will start noticing effects again and that will go on
until you hit your next plateau :)
There
are a few things to do that people have found helpful in
breaking through their weight loss plateaus.
One
very interesting thing to do when you hit a plateau is to be eat
something 'bad'. Dieters have noticed that by eating a
hamburger or something once a week, they can stay on track
and strangely enough the weight starts coming off again..
One
thing to be careful about is being honest with yourself.
When people hit plateau, in a week or so, subconsciously
they become stressed and respond to it by eating unhealthy
(in most cases without even noticing it). It is very
important that during a plateau, you become even more aware
of your portion sizes and eating patterns.
But
on the other hand, you must make sure that you're not too
hard on yourself and in desperation, do not start starving
yourself. Keeping away from your favorite food very strictly
is not a good idea either. While facing a plateau, let
moderation guide you. If you try to be extra-conscious, most
probably you'll find yourself binging occasionally as a
reaction.
One
advice that has worked for many people during plateau days
is to pump some iron. Lifting weights usually gives your
body that necessary 'shock' in order to overcome the
plateau.
If nothing else works, then just persisting with your effort
will. Remember, weight loss plateau is a temporary thing so
don't let it become a stumbling block in your weight loss
mission..
